Congratulations to Dr. Peter Brubaker, Professor of Health and Exercise Science, whose proposal entitled “Transition from Risk Factors to Early Heart Failure: Prevalence, Pathogenesis, and Phenomics (MESA 6)” has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and by (subaward/subcontract from) Wake Forest University Health Sciences.
The study will look at biological signals, including measures obtained from cardiopulmonary exercise testing, that may help predict the development of heart failure over time. While the multi-ethnic study of MESA cohort has been evaluated many times, this is the first assessment that will include cardiopulmonary exercise testing on a subset of the participants.
