Erika Janssen received a B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from Towson University in 2012; a M.S. in Health and Exercise Science from Wake Forest University in 2014; and is an ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist. She is currently the Program Director of the Healthy Exercise and Lifestyle Programs (HELPS), a medically directed and professionally supervised community exercise program whose goal is to assist adults in developing a healthy and active lifestyle to prevent and/or manage various chronic conditions. She also serves as the lead interventionist for the Nutrition and Health arm of the Weight Loss and Exercise for Communities with Arthritis in North Carolina (WE-CAN) study. The main goal of this group is to help overweight older adults with chronic knee pain develop a healthier way of eating through goal setting and other behavior change techniques.
